Day 25

Woke up on a saturday morning
No schedules, no appointments, no activities
One word. BORING

Will you put your hand beside mine?
Its easy for us to go to church, get hyped up and sing things like
'Jesus you're my Best Friend'
But honestly, I realise I couldn't sing that.
If I could, why would this little feeling of being 'alone' bother?
Isn't my best friend with me?

My saturdays back home are packed with appointments, activities, and stuff to do.
Friends became my 'best' friend
Music became my 'best' friend
My family became my 'best' friend
Our settlers, prawning, timbre-ing became my 'best' friend

And for me to sing 'Jesus you're my best friend'
I find it so so hard to mouth those words.

But I pray that this journey of being 'Alone' from my 'best friends'
will make Jesus my bestest friend.

I'm only awake for 2hrs before the sun started setting at 1600hrs
The beauty of Britain's sky never fails to amaze me

Decided to visit Aunty Irene in the evening.
Bought some CHEESECAKEs from Marks and Spencer and took the tube down to my 'Home'
It really felt abit like returning 'home' though! Sweet.

I haven't had such a nice warm dinner ever since I left.
Had Chicken Rice.. Spicy meat balls.. Brocoli and Cauliflower.. and Chawamushi!
So much better than my pathetic little Spagetti pasta.
I was so full, felt as if I ate a Cow.

Had a great 'family' time.
Was sharing with them my little 'stories' from Hall.
And they had their share of story telling about their Hall life back in the 1970s.

After dinner, we had little Venice to perform and sing for us!

Look what Aunty Irene gave me

#1 7 Mac donald Coupons! 'Buy one Big Mac get one free at 1.99 pounds'
#2 A 'take away' consisting of what we had for dinner,
for me to eat when I'm hungry at home.

Lau Pak Sai.

And someone send me this when I came online.
Well, not bad huh the drawing?

And so I posed the 'real thing' for comparison

Day 24

The sun was nice today.

Not going out to enjoy the mild sunlight and good weather is a waste
Decided to head down Hyde Park for a run.

Saw lots of interesting things
First... there were the horses

Next were 'something' to do with the horses..
I should take some back for Candice to throw at her students

The 'reading' culture here is very widespread.
Many people are spotted sitting on a canvas sheet, under a tree
or by the lake reading a book.
Perhaps some of you might like this kind of 'chill out' times..
and mind you, its really CHILL to sit beside the lake.

Met the relatives of Charlie Bird and its only polite
to just drop by to say Hi to them

But after my polite greeting, when i turned back..
I was surrounded by so so many little Charlie birds!

And the ducks came out to meet the pigeons

Hey I'm here to run, not to just snap pictures

And I saw this group of ducks preparing for their stand-by bed.
I guess their Sergeant was late

The children rode Ponies

And the adults rode horses

The poor just has to run.... 'How many more Km to Singapore?'

Some Ang-mos learning how to rollerblade

And came along a another rollerblader, and he tried to pick up the girl..
Check out his handshake

Saw a Swan swimming on the water and got me excited.
But looks like someone else was more excited then me..
The dog jumped into the lake trying to catch the Swan's attention

The Sergeant was really late for the stand-by bed...
The sun was setting and they're still standing.. though not at attention

On my way back after the run, took some pictures
for people like Horng ge, hailer, Spy, Lex Tok (Bra shopkeeper) to enjoy and Lau Nua

Man this is my favorite, Chio la!

Went to attend the Overseas Christian Fellowship in the evening.
Its good to be mixing around with the majorities of Singaporeans again.

The common questions asked when you meet a fellow Singaporean

'Which year in Uni are you now?'
And you roughly can guess which cohort the person is from,.. 87? 85? 86?
Sorry.. Lao shi, cho cho, Horng ge.. you don't qualify for this category.

Next...
'So before Uni, which JC were you from?'
' What about your secondary school?'
'Oh... do you know XXX from your batch/junior batch'

And for tonight these were the Hall of Fame mentioned under XXX

1. Jonathan Charles Tay
2. David Charles Tay
3. Charmaine Tay

Wah Lao.. all Tay... but where's my Teh Peng?

When I finally return home, Den came into my room with his gear
and we just played around abit.

Oh yes, Thank GOD that the Admin lady gave me an extension of the rental till 10th Feb. Hopefully my OCBC money will be in by then.

Charmaine thanks for your encouragement in the scripture.
Hope it will encourage the worry folks out there too

Philippians 4:6
'Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.'
