Day 45

Gordon bought me something from his Paris trip. So sweet hor!
If you are updated in Prison break season 3. You would have realised this souvenir appeared somewhere yah?
Eiffel Tower of Paris

Spent the rest of the afternoon intonating my guitar. Not sure if it was because of the climate change, the intonation was horrible! I asked around for a screw-driver to do the job but it seems like no one had one. In the end, I had to make use of my S.A.F swiss knife.

I'm really glad i brought it along with me. I use it to open can food, screw the loose nuts on the cupboards and doors.. and now on my guitar. Power.

Went down to Charity's place to do a last run of her song item for the night. It was a small open mike session organised by the 'Overseas Christian Fellowship' as a 'Valentine's Day' event. Boy were we last minute to write down the lyrics and to tie down on the chords and synchopations!

When we arrive at the hall, we were supposed to write down on a piece of paper 'What is Love' and paste it on the wall.

Charity (Looking very sianz) and I (Dunno looking like what) before the showdown.

It went well!!! Charity you sounded great! Although I had to turn back and look at you a few times with the blur expression 'Where are we now ah???' Haha but we sure had fun.

The rest of the items were gut-bursting!

Joyce on the violin, also a fellow Geographer taking one same module as me.

Sarah, whom I feel that her playing style is very very similar to mine in terms of fret feel. But her chord vocabulary is 'unexplainable?'

I like this item so so so much! Some guys did 'As long as you love me' by Backstreet boys.

Enjoy! Because I really did! They were so spontaneous

Next was an item by En qi.

By then Sarah was standing beside me and I asked her
'Is she using a Cort?'
And she went.. 'Oh no wonder sound liddat lah...'
'Hello, I use a Cort in Singapore leh..'

En Qi's item was very unique and special, and impactful.
At first, she was doing like 10++ medley's all fused into one song. Like.. 'Truly madly deeply, Can you feel the love tonight, My heart will go on... etc etc... I was like 'What is that sial initially.?'

But towards the last 'fusion,' I forgot how she miraculously did the transition, she sang it so beautifully with words that was so impactful that made me want to Lau Pak Sai

'There's no greater love than this. there's no greater love than this
That a man would give us life, for a friend,
There's no higher sacrifice, then a man would give his life,
You have paid the highest price, for me...
I'm everything I am, because you love me.'

It was a beautiful song. And that moment when she sang, 'I felt it, I felt God's touch there and then.'

How deep is your love?

Tamara sharing with all of us what 'True love' is to her as well as her personal love story.

She did it really well, calm and composed and bringing out the true message across. Sweet!

Headed for supper after the whole event. Somehow the guitarist for the night were sitting together. And the conversation around the table was 'What gear do you use' 'What do you listen to?' 'How long have you been playing?' And true enough, En qi uses a Cort MR740fx. Mine is one grade lower MR730fx :(

And of all, these were the 1985 batch of Singaporean guitar players
Gang Wei, En qi and I.

And as the chat go on,

1. Gang wei and En Qi found out that they were primary school class mates

2. En Qi says that Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow and JOHN MAYER will be performing on June 28th at Hyde Park!!!! The park that is just behind where I'm staying!!! Tix are at 50 pounds. I think I'm so going to go for it! http://www.hardrockcalling.co.uk/home/

3. We talked about army.. and Gang wei told me he was from the Armor Battalion.
I asked him 'Do you know Joshua Lee Teck Horng?'

ANd he went.. 'OH MY GOOSSSSHHH! You know Him ?!!??'

'Yes. We're from the same church and did gigs together'

'Yes he has a great voice! Could hear him singing in bunk during our conversion course together!'

and the excitement went on for a few more minutes. I seem to meet everyone's friend in London. Singapore is really small yeah?

Can you believe it? This guy beside me is only 19 years old. I look like a small kid. When I first introduced myself as 'Angus' He told me immmediately, 'That's a Scottish name.' Wow, he knows his stuff well at hand. Most of the people know 'Angus' only as beef....

'J' stands for Joshua Lee Teck Horng. How do you remember who is this guy?

Peggy left a chocolate bar on my table to 'thank' me for offering my Laptop. Perhaps I should secretly pray that her Laptop never ever gets fixed so that I can have free supply of chocolates?
